Ph.D. Candidate (graduating in NOV 2024) in ECE, UIC, with 7+ years academic research experience (5 year in PhD, 2 year in Bachelors) and 3 years of industrial experience in Japan.Research focus on developing high-efficiency multilevel modular solid-state transformer system validated via hardware.* Led multiple high-impact projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).* Have extensive experience in designing, modeling, coding, populating, debugging and testing low and high power converters (<80 kW, 1.7 kV SiC).* Recent work involves a multi-institutional project focusing on cyber-physical vulnerabilities and solutions for solid-state transformer (SST)-based power substations.* Successful designed and fabricated a multilevel hardware testbench of SST system (6 modules), demonstrating decentralized control and voltage balancing.* Experienced in software like Altium designer, Matlab-Simulink, SaberRD, Ltspice, python, and embedded C programming.Notably, I developed direct ac/ac converter, improving its efficiency from 87.0% to 97.5% on a low power prototype. The prototype was further scaled on a 35 kW/600 V SiC based ac/ac converter (110 kW three phase). A novel modulation strategy to minimize conduction losses while mitigating switching losses was employed to achieve the high efficiency. My work on high-density on-board EV chargers and various power electronics topologies has equipped me with a robust skill set in power system design, DSP programming, and high-frequency magnetic design and fabrication.
