ABOUT SHANTALEA JOHNS
I’m a social work scholar and licensed clinician. My work centers on strengthening behavioral health systems for individuals and families in under-resourced communities. Through my research, I examine how trauma and limited access to resources affect well-being, and I identify protective factors that support resilience in the face of adversity. I collaborate with schools, community organizations, and behavioral health programs to apply research findings by developing trauma-informed interventions that are practical, measurable, and tailored to each community\'s needs.I also prioritize workforce development and competency building to ensure that high-quality, culturally responsive care is sustainable over time. Ultimately, my work aims to build systems that support healing, expand access to opportunities, and make behavioral health care a consistent resource for those who need it.
