About Shannon Zangas Ed. S.

With over eight years of experience in education, I bring a dynamic skill set that bridges teaching, fostering relationships, and curriculum innovation. I earned my Specialist in Advanced Educational Studies and Master of Teaching, both with a 4.0 GPA, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, combining a strong academic foundation with a passion for empowering learners. I hold certifications in Social Studies 7-12, English 7-12, and Art 7-12, along with endorsements in Gifted and Talented Education, ESOL, and AP Teaching. I am also a National Geographic Certified Educator, recognized for an exemplary capstone project out of 475 graduates. At my current role I teach Visual Arts Comprehensive, AP Psychology, US Government, Economics, and Personal Finance to high school seniors. I am fortunate to have this opportunity to empower the next generation with financial literacy. In my six years in my prior role, I have taught seven different classes: AP Psychology, World History, Visual Arts I 2-D, Visual Arts II 3-D, AP Human Geography, Medical Ethics & Law, & Current Issues. I’ve co-created the first high school Medical Ethics and Law curriculum, sponsored our Student Council and Junior Class, successfully organized our school’s prom and other community events each year, and mentored aspiring educators. In addition, I have led initiatives such as starting the Personal Finance Club, support the Running Club, taught summer school, Saturday school, and Summer English Acceleration camp, and supported the 9th grade academy.Outside of my current role, I serve both as a private tutor and as a tutor for BCG Learning Specialists, helping young learners improve their executive functioning skills. Beyond teaching, I volunteer at a local children’s grief awareness center, Kate’s Club, and help with the Military Non-Profit Organization with which I had a prior internship, Freedom Alliance. I also serve as a Marine Corps Scholars Foundation Mentor, and am always seeking opportunities to learn and improve.
