ABOUT SHANNON MILK DRUNK CLUB PRATTEN

As a NICU Registered Nurse for over 20 years and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) for more than 13, I have dedicated my career to supporting maternal and neonatal health through evidence-based care, education, and advocacy, with a growing emphasis on maternal mental health as a critical component of postpartum outcomes. My clinical background has expanded into Legal Nurse Consulting, where I provide medical record review, timeline development, and objective analysis of neonatal care, with a focus on identifying deviations in clinical management. I am the founder of Lactation of the Lowcountry, LLC, a private practice serving families across the Lowcountry through in-person and virtual breastfeeding consultations, integrating lactation support with maternal wellness and mental health awareness. I am also the founder of Milk Drunk Club, a maternal platform centered on calm, supportive content with a growing focus on maternal mental health and the postpartum experience. My work bridges clinical expertise and broader cultural impact—supporting mothers in understanding their physiology, building confidence in infant feeding, and navigating the emotional and psychological demands of postpartum recovery. In addition to clinical and consulting work, I am in the early stages of developing an eco-friendly breastmilk storage system designed to reduce reliance on single-use plastics while supporting maternal and infant health through thoughtful, sustainable innovation. Mission: To support maternal and neonatal health through clinical excellence, advocacy, and innovation—while contributing to a culture where mothers feel informed, supported, and psychologically safe.
