ABOUT SHANNON MCCARTHY LEVENTHAL

Shannon McCarthy Leventhal is the Director of Admissions for Middlebridge School, a coeducational boarding, day and postgraduate community in Narragansett, Rhode Island, for students with learning differences. Shannon graduated from Saint Michael\'s College in Vermont with a BA in English Literature and American Studies and from Lindenwood University with an MFA in Writing. Hired at the former Pine Ridge School in Williston, Vermont, Shannon worked as an Associate Residential Instructor before completing her training as an Orton Gillingham Associate level tutor. Shannon is trained in assessment testing for incoming student applicants, and also worked as a Title I Reading Specialist in the Malletts Bay Public Schools in Vermont. Shannon began her work in admissions as the Assistant Director of Admissions at Pine Ridge School, before transitioning to Director of Admissions. After many years of working with youth and in education, Shannon took the opportunity to help create a unique and much-needed program in South County. Shannon moved to Rhode Island with a small group of committed educators in 2008 to start Middlebridge School. Now in its seventeenth year, Middlebridge School serves 75 students ages 13-19 from across the country and the world. Shannon is proud to be a founding member of Middlebridge School, and a member of the vibrant South County community. She previously served on the Board of Trustees for the Narragansett Historical Society and currently facilitates the South County Community Writers Group.
