WORK HISTORY
Instrument System Engineer @NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory
Instrument systems engineering for the instrumentation of optical remote sensing instruments for scientific space and airborne applications. Instrument Performance analysis from instrument requirements perspective. Verification of requirements. Optical radiometric calculations. Application to remote sensing of Earth, planetary and exoplanets. Focus on the imaging spectrometer instruments (hyper-spectral and multi-spectral) in Visible Shortwave IR and Thermal IR, assessing the technical performance with respect to the science and mission requirements.Brief summary of most recent projects- Instrument Verification and Validation (V&V) Lead on the SBG-TIR instrument, also known as “OTTER” (Orbiting Terrestrial Thermal. Emission Radiometer) during phase C before the close out of the project- Instrument Systems engineer on Europa Clipper MISE Instrument: Verification of Instrument performance against the radiometric requirement, development of radiometric calibration requirement error budget, systems engineering and analysis at the interface of the optical radiometry- Instrument Systems eng on the Lunar Trail Blazer HVM3 instrument: Responsibility included requirement management and system performance assessment- Instrument system eng on the Carbon Balance Observatory (CARBO), Systems engineer: radiometric modeling and instrument design parameter definition- instrument system engineer on the Earth Surface Biology and Geology (SBG): Responsibilities included instrument architecture study and definition for Earth remote sensing missions. Other work includes- Radiometric calculation for instrument concept formulation and requirements definition - Exoplanet detection work: wavefront sensing for large segmented telescopes for exoplanet detection applications on novel methods for phasing of segments and other simulation work (using PROPER optical propagation tool) for wavefront analysis. Formerly worked on the Starshade project (testbed).
