Hi, I’m Shannon I’m a Work Placement Advisor at a college, supporting students aged 16–18 who are studying Animal Care and Travel & Tourism to gain real-world experience with local businesses.My role is all about bridging the gap between education and industry. I work closely with employers to create meaningful placements that help students develop confidence, practical skills, and a better understanding of the workplace — while also giving businesses the opportunity to support and shape the next generation entering their industry.A big part of what I do is building strong relationships with local employers and making the placement process as smooth and beneficial as possible for everyone involved. I match students to opportunities that align with their interests and career goals, while ensuring businesses feel supported throughout the experience.The students I work with bring enthusiasm, curiosity, and a genuine interest in their industries. Whether it’s supporting animal welfare environments, visitor attractions, travel services, or tourism experiences, placements can provide businesses with extra support while helping young people take their first steps into their careers.I’m naturally creative and enjoy finding new ways to engage students and employers alike. I believe the best opportunities happen when collaboration, communication, and a bit of creativity come together.And don’t worry — I know taking on a student can sometimes feel like a big step, but I’m there to guide the process. Think of me as the placement matchmaker (minus the awkward dating show moments).
