ABOUT SHANNA MARIE DAVID
Shanna Marie David, a regional representative with Horace Mann and holds a state insurance license in health and life, is a Registered Representative, and an educational leadership license from the Alabama Department of Education. Shanna’s passion for education has shaped every step of her career. She earned National Board Certification in adolescent science in 2020 and holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership/Principles of Learning, a bachelor’s degree in Social Science from Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee, and an administrative master’s endorsement from Samford University.Over the years, Shanna has been honored to learn and grow alongside some incredible organizations. She was named one of the top 10 U.S. Energy Teachers by the NEED Association in 2018 and selected as a Northrop Grumman Fellow in 2019. She has completed the Maury Project and Project Atmosphere programs with NOAA and AMS and participated in both beginner and advanced aviation education workshops at Middle Tennessee State University. In 2016, she was selected to work with the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, where she helped train fellow educators during a summer space education workshop.Shanna is also a passionate advocate for science education beyond the classroom. She has presented nationally more than seven times with the National Science Teaching Association and has shared her work at the National STEM Teachers Association annual conference. Earlier in her career, she served as a Special Investigator with the Department of Children’s Services, where she held a supervisory role and completed advanced interview and interrogation training through Wicklander-Zulawski.When she’s not working, Shanna enjoys giving back to her community. She is an active member of the Huntsville Junior League, serving on committees and volunteering with local nonprofit organizations. She is also a proud member of the Alabama Women in Business Association and the National Science Teachers Association
