As the sole SOC Engineer at Aqua Comms, I lead security operations and network protection for our global subsea cable systems, supporting clients like Meta, Google, and Bulk.Key Highlights & Achievements: • ISO 27001 Certification: Led Aqua Comms to successful ISO 27001 accreditation within 1 year of joining. As ISMS manager built ISMS framework from scratch developing security policies, processes and procedures, audit preparation/documentation. Ongoing ISMS management: internal audits, policy reviews, identifying risks, and improving controls, ensuring we met all compliance requirements. • Network Security & Operations: Monitor, manage, and enhance Aqua Comms’ Data Communications Network (DCN). Perform vulnerability assessments, upgrades, incident response, and threat mitigation. Develop and enforce security policies to protect management network control plane from external threats. • Physical & Logical Security: Implemented strict physical access control policies for new and existing Cable Landing Station (CLS) and Point of Presence (PoP) sites. Maintain audit-ready access records, enforce key/password rotations, and improve site security. Led physical and logical security for the Havfrue cable system-Hardening the security of building management systems (BMS), Camera systems and other remote access applications. • Technical Expertise: Knowledge on Ciena optical transport systems, MCP, WSS, TEMS, RADIUS. Skilled in Azure cloud security, VPNs, VMs, Microsoft 365, Sentinel One, Microsoft Defender, ThreatLocker. Manage firewalls (Juniper SRX, Cisco Meraki) and perform advanced packet analysis using Wireshark. • Risk & Incident Management: Oversee incident, risk, change, and configuration management across all systems.As Aqua Comms’ only security engineer, I safeguard critical infrastructure and collaborate with teams to ensure secure, resilient operations balancing client needs with strong security practices.
