Experience

  1. Mellon Humanities Postdoctoral Fellow

    American Conservation Experience

Aug 2024 — Present · Saratoga Springs, NY, US

I currently manage a two-year, Mellon-Funded project to utilize historical methodologies to uncover and un-silence the histories of individuals enslaved in New York State through a public-history lens. The first year of this project included close collaboration with the Saratoga National Historical Park to develop interpretive products and historical research that detailed the lives of individuals enslaved on the Schuyler Estate. This resulted in two social media publications, an interpretive training for staff, a repository of primary source information from more than fifteen archives, and visits with state and local partners. The second year of this project includes an expanded scope and partnership with Skidmore College and the New York State Office of Parks and Historic Preservation. In these roles, I will be interviewing and recording the lives of descendants of New York\'s enslaved populations for a project in collaboration with Skidmore College. In this role, I am also supervising an intern. Within the NYS partnership, I will work with historical researchers to develop K-12 curriculum on enslavement and labor that will be available to educators across the State.
