As Secretary General of TanBC, I lead initiatives that connect and empower the Tanzanian diaspora in British Columbia while fostering cultural exchange and national pride. My role includes- Leadership & Strategy: Spearheading events like Tanzania’s Independence Day celebrations and coordinating workshops on real estate, investment, and financial literacy for the Tanzanian diaspora. Serving as the primary point of contact between the Tanzanian Society in British Columbia and external entities such as the Tanzanian High Commission in Canada, local authorities, or other community organizations- Event Management & Partnerships: Collaborating with Tanzanian diplomats, including ambassadors and high-level representatives, to secure event funding, guest speakers, and community engagement- Community Engagement: Organizing culturally enriching events that showcase Tanzanian heritage, including food fairs, workshops, and educational seminars- Representation & Advocacy: Serving as a key representative of the Tanzanian community, fostering unity through dialogue and shared experiences- Operational Excellence: Overseeing logistics, event planning, and communications to ensure the seamless execution of large-scale events- Working alongside the Treasurer to monitor income and expenses- Maintaining an archive of important society documents, reports, financial records and communication logs.
