About Shaniya Overton

I am a senior majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Chemistry at Virginia Tech. I love that engineering involves creativity and working with others. Also, engineering applies aspects of math and science which are my two favorite subjects. I am still trying to figure out what exactly I want to do with chemical engineering; however, I do know it is the major that is best suited for my strengths. I love how the major is broad and that I can get involved in a wide range of industries. During the Summer of 2023, I interned at Frito Lay, a PepsiCo Company, as a Supply Chain Intern. My main project was to help in the simplification of the startup and shutdown procedures for the different chip lines. In the Summer of 2022, I interned at Philip Morris, an Altria Company, as a Manufacturing Intern. I had three different projects that helped me develop skills in project managing, planning, and developing an HMI Screen.
