ABOUT SHANE R. SAUM

Public policy executive, elected mayor, and government affairs leader with 13+ years of experience shaping legislation, regulatory strategy, and economic development at the highest levels of state government and in the private sector.I currently serve as Mayor of Lago Vista, Texas, where I focus on transparency, fiscal discipline, infrastructure investment, and strengthening trust between citizens and local government. I was previously elected to Lago Vista City Council and have worked to bring a policy-driven, results-oriented approach to local leadership.At the same time, I am Head of US Government Affairs for Dabble, a social-first daily fantasy sports operator, where I lead national legislative and regulatory strategy across the United States. My role sits at the intersection of innovation, compliance, and public policy as fantasy sports continue to evolve state by state. Prior to Dabble, I served as Director of Regulatory and Government Affairs at PrizePicks and was named Top Gaming Lobbyist in 2025 by the Texas Lobby Guide.My government experience includes senior roles in the Texas House of Representatives, the Texas Senate, and the Office of Governor Greg Abbott. While in the Governor’s Office, I managed the $100M+ Texas Enterprise Fund, helping close deals that generated more than jobs and over $4.3 billion in capital investment. My work has included appropriations, economic development, public affairs, and high-stakes negotiations with companies such as Apple, ExxonMobil, Merck, and Hulu.I believe the best policy is informed by real-world impact. Serving simultaneously in elected office and private-sector leadership gives me a unique perspective on how laws are written, how they are implemented, and how they affect communities, businesses, and everyday people.Outside of government and policy, I founded ATX Plays, a local sports and social league recognized as “Most Uniquely Austin Business” by the Greater Austin Chamber. I remain active in civic life through board service, economic development work, and community volunteerism.
