ABOUT SHANE ROBERTS

Hi, I\'m Shane Roberts, a dedicated Public Health Program Director with a passion for leading transformative health initiatives. My journey in public health began with a Master of Public Health from A.T. Still University, where I deepened my expertise in Public Health Management and Policy. This foundational experience set the stage for my Doctor of Public Health degree from the University of South Florida, with a focus on Advanced Practice Leadership.Throughout my 19-year career in public health, I have held significant roles that have shaped my expertise. As the current Assistant Director of the Office of Public Health Practice at the New York State Department of Health, I oversee strategic initiatives including the state-funded Article 6 \"General Public Health Work\" initiative, supporting 58 county health departments with a budget of approximately $200M. I also lead the development of New York’s State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP) as part of the NYS Prevention Agenda.In my previous role as an AIDS Program Manager, I managed critical HIV, STI, and hepatitis C prevention programs across 22 counties, contributing to increased HIV screening services and HCV seropositivity rates. This role also included involvement in COVID-19 response activities, demonstrating my adaptability and crisis management skills.At the Alliance for Positive Health, as Director of Program Services, I led strategies that improved HIV health indicator data collection by 20% and achieved a 97% HIV viral suppression rate among enrolled clients. My tenure as Assistant Director of Program Services saw me overseeing Medicaid-reimbursed programs and implementing a new Electronic Health Record system.My commitment extends to my active involvement in the New York State Public Health Association and ongoing professional development in areas like Trauma Informed Care and Counseling Testing and Referral (CTR).I am driven by the belief that strategic planning, resource allocation, and community outreach are key to making lasting impacts in public health. My career is a testament to my dedication to optimizing local health services and fostering cooperative relationships for effective healthcare delivery and improved community health outcomes.
