As a boots-on-the-ground EHS Specialist for a leading renewable energy Operations & Maintenance company, I drive safety culture across multiple active project sites. RNWBL provides asset management, O&M, commissioning, and repower services for utility-scale solar, wind, and BESS facilities nationwide. Promoted from Foreman after demonstrating a deep commitment to proactive safety leadership, I now serve as the primary site authority on EHS compliance and risk mitigation. My core focus is translating safety policy into field practice, bridging the gap between regulatory requirements and job site realities, ensuring every team member from apprentice to superintendent has the knowledge and tools to work safely.Field Leadership & Compliance: Champion safety excellence through daily site walks, behavior-based safety (BBS) observations, and direct coaching. Enforce strict compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and all applicable federal and state regulations across solar, wind, and BESS O&M sites.Technical Safety Expertise: Serve as site SME for high-risk activities including LOTO, confined space entry, arc flash safety, and high-voltage DC hazard control. Develop and lead daily JSAs and toolbox talks tailored to active site conditions.Proactive Risk Mitigation: Drive proactive safety initiatives including a site-wide Heat Illness Prevention Program (HIPP) and root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for all incidents and near-misses.Safety Culture & Communication: Act as the central liaison between field personnel and project management, fostering psychological safety and ensuring every team member is empowered with stop-work authority.Project Scope: Supporting O&M, commissioning, and repower operations across utility-scale solar, wind, and BESS sites with crews across multiple simultaneous project locations nationwide.

ABOUT SHANE NORDAHL
As a safety professional who started on the tools, I know that true safety isn\'t a policy in a binder, it\'s a promise we make to each other in the field. With a career that began as a Lead Electrician, I bring a boots-on-the-ground perspective to my role as an EHS Specialist in renewable energy. My mission is simple: every technician goes home the same way they arrived.I operate as a traveling EHS professional deployed to utility-scale solar, wind, and BESS projects nationwide. My role spans the full project lifecycle, from pre-kickoff JHA development and site-specific procedure writing to active safety oversight, client-facing coordination, incident investigation, site audits, and reporting. I work alongside both RNWBL project management and customer safety teams, serving as the EHS authority on-site and as the bridge between field crews and project leadership. My expertise covers the most critical risks in our industry: Arc Flash (NFPA 70E), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and high-voltage DC and AC electrical work. I don\'t just enforce procedures; I understand the \"why\" because I\'ve lived them.I look for the two most dangerous things on any site, complacency and silence, and address them with direct coaching, behavior-based safety (BBS), and a bit of humor. The best safety programs are the ones crews actually believe in. Core Competencies:• EHS Leadership: Proactive field-level safety engagement across solar, wind, and BESS sites nationwide. • Pre-Project Planning: JHA development, site-specific procedures, and pre-kickoff safety coordination with project and client teams. • Technical Hazard Mitigation: Arc Flash (NFPA 70E), LOTO, Confined Space, High-Voltage DC Hazard Control. • Regulatory Compliance: OSHA 1926 Construction and NFPA 70E for utility-scale renewable energy. • Incident Investigation: Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and PSIF mitigation. • Training & Development: JHAs, Toolbox Talks, and field crew mentorship. • Wind Energy: GWO-certified - BST, ART, BTT, CoHE, Slinger Signaler.Let\'s connect.
