About Shane Merz
Shane J. Merz of Houston earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1988 at OU and a master’s degree in ocean engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993. He was a 1993 Sea Grant Fellow and legislative assistant to U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka from Hawaii. Today, he is partner and vice president of MRE Consulting, one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the United States. Shane\'s community service includes National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Junior Achievement and Special Olympics. In his spare time, Merz has trained for and competed in several marathon and cycling races.
