ABOUT SHANE FIELDER

Yes, I am a samurai. I’m a 5th degree black belt in the Japanese martial art of Aikido. This study has taught me how to bring focus & discipline into my work while persevering through opportunities and challenges. Transferring these skills and mindsets to business has been invaluable. In 1996, I owned a local eatery/catering company. Two years after buying the business and quadrupling sales, my vision was to expand to ten more locations until one Monday morning.Lunch sales produced 70% of revenue. By the end of the week, lunch sales dropped by 75%. The drop in sales was due to the provincial government’s decision to lay off 70% of my customers. Ten floors of government office space was immediately closedI vowed to never let this happen again. What happened next is that I asked one question and made a key decision that forever changed the trajectory of my career:What is the difference between large national companies that grow and thrive in any economy versus local small businesses?I decided from that point forward to only work with industry leading companies and people. Why settle for less with your career? That question put me on the pathway to discovering how to lead large teams of people while optimizing business systems to deliver quality service.Given that people are a key part of business success, I committed myself to discovering how to inspire and motivate employees to provide consistent levels of outstanding service from hospitality to a variety of elite service businesses. Knowing how to influence client buying habits and create corporate cultures that attract loyal clients became another exciting pursuit. In 2008, I started learning how to speak the language of Google and since have deployed innovative digital marketing strategies that have added significant value to the clients I serve.I look forward to hearing which question, or decision has been largely responsible for your success?
