About Shane Cline

I have a strong background in commercial and residential construction from hands on field experience (union journeyman carpenter), supervisor, project management responsibilities. I am currently a Sr. Building inspector for the City of Bothell. I believe in this strongly, being a building inspector my job is to advocate for the home owners and all contractors to help projects achieve their goals i.e schedule dates i.e. C of O target(s), ensure life safety and a code compliant buildings. During the process of each project, I truly enjoy helping customers through the process of inspections and looking ahead to avoid potential code conflicts/issues etc. Lots of contractors think that the Bldg inspectors are out to get them, I assure you that I do not conduct business that way, I come from the field and I fully understand the logistics of any construction project start up to finish. I especially understand and respect the process and how crucial ALL schedules are to the contractors and also to the owners of the project(s). My belief and my opening statement at any and all pre construction meetings is; if the contractors are not working, Im (inspectors) are not working. Being a true union carpenter, I\'m very proud of where I have came from, I take pride in my being a strong union carpenter and a building inspector. I\'m proud of where I came from and where I am now. I have never and will not ever forget where I came from! I encourage all tradesmen and tradeswomen to consider becoming a building/plumbing/mechanical and or electrical inspector. There is a whole other level of construction that is endless and you will never stop learning. The plan reviewe/inspection and Building Official career should have and needs individuals whom come from the trades. I have a hard time with inspectors inspect work, yet they never picked up tool in their life. I encourage any and all trades people to consider the inspector, plan review and or Building Official positions, I highly and strongly encourage individuals who come from a construction trade to pursue this industry, this is a great profession and you see so many types of craftsmanship and some really unique builds as well. Every day is a new day in this profession! If you have trade knowledge, construction experience, great people skills and eager to learn and grow, then challenge yourself, become a building inspector, I assure you that you will not be board! Remember, certified doesn\'t mean your qualified to be an inspector/plan reviewer or BO. Field experience supercedes certifications! Shane Cline
