ABOUT SHANE BEARD

I’ve spent my career building businesses, scaling them, and learning how value is really created.My career began in the fitness sector during a period of rapid change and consolidation. What started as a single operation scaled into a multi-site gym business with a strong brand, large member base and deep community roots. Those early years taught me how to scale people-led organisations, build operational systems at pace, and turn momentum into repeatable performance.In 2019, the business was acquired in an all-stock deal. The work changed overnight. I stepped into the investment company as CEO and moved from hands-on operator to group-level leadership, overseeing multiple businesses simultaneously. That shift brought direct exposure to investor expectations, capital strategy, governance, and the realities of scaling across sectors rather than within a single industry.Over the following years, my work spanned technology, health and wellness, construction, events and property. Each sector brought different economics, risks and operating models. That breadth sharpened my judgement. I learned where value is genuinely created, where it erodes, and what it takes to lead businesses through growth, pressure and transition.By 2024, having helped scale the group and its portfolio, I chose to exit and close that chapter deliberately and on a high. Since then, my focus has been on building and backing businesses with clearer fundamentals, stronger execution and long-term impact.Sheffield has always been home base. I’m proud to be an Ambassador for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, which keeps my perspective anchored beyond balance sheets and outcomes.
