About Shana Montesol Johnson

I’m fascinated by transformation – of people, of organizations, of cultures. And lucky me, I’ve been able to build a career facilitating transformations of many kinds. As a management consultant with firms like PwC and IBM, I helped organizations going through change to think strategically about it, to design organizational structures to make the most of it, and to communicate well with employees to make the change stick. As a certified executive and leadership coach, I’ve had the privilege of coaching hundreds of people - from CEOs to middle managers to emerging leaders – through their own transformation processes. I’ve helped global professionals get clear on “what’s next?” in their careers and lives. I’ve helped new CEOs and first-time managers shift out of old identities and transition successfully into new roles. I’ve helped women working in global careers to step into greater self-confidence, service, and impact. One really fun aspect of my work has been the cross-cultural dimension. As an American of part-Filipino descent who grew up in Latin America and worked for more than a decade in Asia, I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching people of 35 different nationalities. Their industries have also been diverse, including fintech, pharmaceuticals, fast-moving consumer goods, technology, telecommunications, automotive, media, international development, and banking. After working in management consulting, and owning a coaching and leadership development business, I joined BetterUp. I believe its mission is transformational: to help people everywhere pursue their lives with greater clarity, purpose, and passion. I am passionate about bringing coaching to more people at all levels of organizations, around the world. I’m excited to play a part in transforming workplaces into spaces that catalyze our growth as professionals and as people; that spark greater clarity, purpose, and passion; and that invite us to bring our whole selves to work.
