Shamus is the Manager of Cassidy Law. Shamus concentrates his practice on corporate, business, M&A, PE/VC, estate planning, disability and special needs planning, probate, elder law, taxation, asset protection, oil & gas, syndications, and real estate matters. Concerning his business practice, Shamus represents small to medium business entities and other organizations in a variety of industries and professions, providing counsel in the following areas:(1) Formation, choice of entity, structure, and management;(2) Acquisition, sale, and the merger/consolidation of business assets and business interests;(3) Taxation;(4) Franchise law (representing both franchisees and franchisors);(5) Intellectual property, including trademark/service mark, trade name filings, and confidentiality agreements;(6) Labor and employment;(7) Asset protection;(8) Commercial loan workouts, receiverships, loan restructuring, and commercial lending transactions; and (9) Transactional and litigation-related needs. As a part of his general business practice, Shamus utilizes his estate and succession planning experience to meet his clients\' business, retirement, and estate planning goals, seamlessly transitioning a business to the next generation of owners/operators. This includes many medical, dental, optometry, and veterinary practice transitions. Shamus is licensed to practice in all Ohio courts, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the United States Tax Court. He received his law degree from Capital University Law School (J.D, magna cum laude) and his bachelor’s degree from the Ohio State University (B.A, magna cum laude). Shamus is a member of the Columbus and Ohio Bar Associations.
