ABOUT SHAMS QUADER

I am Shams Bin Quader, a researcher with over 8 years of experience conducting and administering qualitative and mixed-methods research, producing value-driven and data-informed insights, and delivering actionable recommendations. I hold a Ph.D. in Gender & Cultural Studies and currently serve as Manager, Research Projects at Skills for the Change (Toronto, ON). My current role and prior professional roles have given me deep insights into Canada\'s Immigration and Labour market ecosystems. I have demonstrated expertise in conducting comprehensive research projects using qualitative and mixed-methods methodologies while strictly adhering to Tri-Agency policies and Research Ethics Board processes. My experience includes managing full-lifecycle research projects, from ideation to knowledge mobilization, and translating complex findings into actionable recommendations for diverse audiences. My track record of 8 peer-reviewed publications and 9 conference presentations demonstrates my ability to produce high-quality knowledge mobilization outputs. I also have some experience in policy analysis, advocacy, grant writing, and program design and development. My background in qualitative and mixed-methods data collection and analysis, combined with my EDIA work at Mount Saint Vincent University, has equipped me with a strong understanding of intersectional research methodologies and anti-oppressive frameworks. I have consistently demonstrated my commitment to culturally sensitive service delivery through research projects on marginalized communities, including newcomers, women, and racialized groups.Throughout my career, I have excelled in stakeholder engagement and partnership development, collaborating effectively with academia, government agencies, and community organizations. My experience includes supervising research teams, managing project budgets, and maintaining high standards of data privacy and confidentiality. I am also an experienced facilitator and convener with a proven ability to lead engaging and productive discussions, creating inclusive spaces.I am proficient in implementing various software packages, including MS 365 Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Sharepoint), data collection platforms like Survey Monkey, data analysis software like MS Excel, and NVivo, with some experience with business intelligence and spatial analysis tools (ArcGIS), data visualization (MS Power BI), and project management tools (MS Project). Furthermore, I am proficient in leveraging AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
