About Shameka Reed
Shameka L. Reed is a multi-hyphenate entrepreneur who leverages her extensive marketing and media relations background to produce global impact. As the Founder and Executive Director of nonprofit Global Gateways, she believes in the transformative power of global and cultural education. Under her leadership, Global Gateways’ Language and Cultural Enrichment afterschool and summer camp programs have helped more than 600 elementary students in Jackson Public School District (Jackson, Mississippi) learn conversational Spanish, English and explore global and local cultures. Additionally, International Summer, Global Gateways signature scholarship program for HBCU students, provides scholarships for studying abroad. Shameka is also the Chief Storyteller for Young, Gifted & Empowered Media (YG & E), which for the last nine years has produced the YG & E Awards, a two hour televised awards show that airs on several stations throughout Mississippi and international streaming platforms dedicated to telling positive stories about Blacks from Mississippi.
