Shamarria is a multimedia journalist in the Queen City covering education with a focus on equity, accountability, and underrepresented populations. She\'s created a new standard and lane for WCNC’s educating reporting in the market. Key education leaders are familiar and trust her work. Shamarria\'s articles have been shared by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, school board leadership, and education advocate groups. Since taking over the education beat at WCNC she\'s helped build a new and sustaining relationship with the communication team of several school districts that\'s led to competitive news coverage making a difference.
