About Shalini Vlcan

I\'m Shalini Vlcan, a Biomedical Engineering student with a minor in Physics, passionate about engineering, innovation, and design to improve healthcare and patient outcomes. BME excites me because it allows me to apply my strengths like leadership, problem-solving, and communication in both my education and experiences. My experience includes medical imaging data pipelines, AI-assisted surgical technology, circuit design, and physiology-based systems modeling. My on-campus roles as an Orientation Leader & Academic Peer Mentor, and Executive Board Member of several groups have polished my mentorship, project management, collaboration, and documentation skills. Beyond engineering, I enjoy dancing as a captain of WashU Garba, playing club softball, and engaging with fellow mixed-race students at WUMA. I am always searching for new opportunities in clinical engineering, biomedical research, medical devices, healthcare, and R&D where I can contribute to making a real-world impact.

   Conduct in-depth market research and reviews on 9–12 companies developing surgical AI and robotic surgery tools, analyzing findings in a competitive report to increase product strategy- Develop new product by generating both front-end and back-end coding of a medical app which analyzes CT scans to accurately report aortic valve size to surgeons, assisting them in pre-op planning- Strengthen documentation, task planning, and operational support for AI-powered surgical copilot operations delivering real-time guidance, predictive alerts, and training tools for cardiac surgery
