Shakeel (Shak\'s) background is in electronic engineering and software-related technology.Shak heads up Keltie LLP\'s IT, Telecoms and Electronics team and advises on patent issues regarding various areas of technology. His specific experience and interest is in software-related technology from graphical user interface generation, data encryption and security through to virtual gaming technology, software platform integration and app development. He has developed a niche practice for software inventions which are in areas on the borderline of patentability and this has fuelled the growth of his Financial Technology (Fintech) practice. His experience extends to mobile telecommunications including standards technology, particularly in the 4G space, biometric parameter measurement devices and electronic gaming including lottery systems.Shak\'s practice is a mixture of drafting and prosecuting patent applications, litigating patents in the UK and US, handling contentious oppositions before the EPO and undertaking due diligence for various M&A and IPO activities. Beyond this he has commercialised intellectual property assets for clients and successfully listed and sold a software patent portfolio in an international IP auction. Shak also produces papers and lectures on the protection of software inventions in Europe.
