About Shailja Rani

I’m a second-year Microbiology student who enjoys exploring life at every scale, from microbes in the lab to data on a screen. Over time, I’ve found myself drawn to two parallel paths: experimental biology and the computational tools that help make sense of it. That curiosity led me to a computational biology internship at Mahindra University, where I worked with data, models, and questions that pushed me beyond the textbook.Most of my work now sits at the intersection of research, writing, and student leadership. I create science content for my department society, manage social media for eco-initiatives, and mentor students in academics and communication. I also care deeply about public health and environmental sustainability, and I’m steadily building a voice in science communication through projects, posts, and my blog.What this really means is that I love learning something complex and explaining it in a way that feels clear and inviting. Whether it’s microbial physiology, cancer biology, or computational analysis, I’m happiest when I’m connecting ideas and creating something useful out of them.Open to conversations around microbiology, computational biology, science writing, research collaborations, and student-led initiatives.
