ABOUT SHAILESH JHA
I am currently working as the Associate Vice President at Kotak Investment Bank, specializing in the Digital, AI and Robotics vertical. My work here is to lead the bank\'s thought leadership initiatives and develop a strong body of research that provides insights and actionable transaction strategies to our partners looking for M&A transactions and IPOs. These functions are a bigger part of a personal initiative to understand the internet economy and culture in India, similar to how Ben Evans and Eugene Wei have done for the US and Jeff Towson for China. Lead, Transaction Due Diligence and Research for Alternative Assets, where my task involves Leading a research and transaction advisory team of 7 for a USD 50 mn alternative portfolio ranging across a risk-return spectrum – Private Equity, Venture Capital, Real Estate, Infrastructure, Private Credit and Direct pre-IPO investments. Previously, I have worked as the Vice President of Corporate Finance at a Family-owned private equity firm in Delhi, where my task involves capital planning, budgeting, financial analysis and controls for their investments in new technology (IoT, SaaS, FinTech), Renewables, EV and Mining sectors. In 2019, I graduated Magna Cum Laude (3.8/4), having split my MBA education equally between CEIBS (China) and the University of Chicago Booth (USA). My MBA specialization is in finance and economics, for Asian markets. Throughout my career, I have been an eager student of innovation and institutions. It was this motivation that has driven me to developing an expertise of economy and Asian markets (at Credit Suisse APAC) to helping businesses negotiate macroeconomic event risks (ADCB, Abu Dhabi) and to helping Chinese VC investors, in my summers, to identify potential disruptors in the logistics space in India.
