About Shahzaib Bangash

I’m a Civil Engineer with experience in both highway design and rail project development. I began my career working on roadway and infrastructure projects, including over two years with the City of Winston-Salem, where I contributed to various public works projects. Currently, I serve as a Senior Rail Project Development Engineer at NCDOT, focusing on project prioritization, NEPA delivery, and planning for grade separations, crossing closures, and corridor development to enhance rail safety and efficiency.I hold a Master’s in Civil Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Mehran University of Engineering & Texhnology in Pakistan. I’m FE certified, an ASCE member, and a recipient of honors including the NCDOT HBCU/MIHE Scholarship and Erosion & Sediment Control Level I & II certifications.

   My role includes overseeing environmental coordination, preliminary and final design, ROW acquisition, and ensuring all regulatory requirements are met. I also collaborate with municipalities, commuter rail projects, transit agencies, and state and federal partners to keep projects on schedule and well integrate. Also work with multidisciplinary teams and ensure that all work meets engineering standards and complies with environmental laws like NEPA, SEPA, the Clean Water Act, and the National Historic Preservation Act. I coordinate with multiple private engineering firms and various NCDOT units to ensure smooth project delivery with the Department’s Planning, Project Management, and Integrated Project Delivery processes.
