ABOUT SHAHZAD SALIM

A clinical leader and academic Emergency Medicine consultant in the NHS (UK) with a strong focus on education, systems improvement and workforce development.I currently work at North Cheshire and Merseyside NHS Foundation Trust (previously Warrington and Halton NHS FT) where I serve as Sepsis and Blood Transfusion Lead, Appraiser and Clinical and Educational Supervisor for doctors in training. Alongside my clinical role, I am an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Liverpool and a Postgraduate Examiner for the Royal College of Emergency Medicine.I also hold leadership and academic development roles beyond clinical practice. I am an Academic Co-Lead (Postgraduate) at University College London and a Mentor with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), supporting developing leaders across healthcare and professional services. These roles reflect my commitment to academic leadership, mentorship and capacity building.I identify as a clinician–educator with a commitment to developing people, strengthening training pathways and supporting high-quality, safe care in Emergency Medicine. My academic work includes undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, assessment and mentorship.I hold Fellowship of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (FRCEM) and am a Chartered Manager with the Chartered Management Institute. I am currently completing an Executive MBA with Apprenticeship in Senior Leadership at UCL, reflecting my interest in strategic leadership, organisational culture and workforce development in healthcare.My professional interests include Emergency Medicine education, clinical leadership, quality improvement and international collaboration. I am particularly passionate about supporting sustainable educational initiatives that enhance patient safety, career progression and equity across healthcare systems.I value reflective practice, collaboration and purposeful leadership and remain open to academic, educational and leadership partnerships aligned with these principles.
