   I counsel and defend clients on a wide range of issues involving advertising, marketing, privacy, e-commerce, promotions, social media, and subscription programs. I regularly represent clients in litigation and enforcement actions involving the Federal Trade Commission, state attorneys general, district attorneys, the National Advertising Division (NAD), consumer class actions and competitor lawsuits. My significant defense experience helps me provide clients with insights into complying with constantly-evolving areas of risk.My counseling experience includes advising advertisers, affiliate networks, lead generators, advertising agencies, payment processors, and others on compliance with Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act, FTC rules and guidance, California\'s Autorenewal Law, the Restore Online Shoppers\'​ Confidence Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Telemarketing Sales Rule, the CAN-SPAM Act, California\'s anti-spam law, the federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and state unfair and deceptive acts and practices statutes. I draft, negotiate, and manage marketing arrangements, and I have developed internal and external compliance programs and policies on matters related to email, social media, product claims, telemarketing, and privacy. As co-chair of Venable\'s Autorenewal Solutions Team (VAST), I routinely counsel and defend companies in enforcement actions under the Restore Online Shoppers\' Confidence Act and state automatic renewal laws including in investigations by the California Automatic Renewal Taskforce (CART) and class action lawsuits.
