The Executive Director of Knowledge Transfer (EDKT)) of Pipeline Research Council International, Inc.(PRCI) oversees the knowledge transfer of a non-profit, membership-based organization comprised of leading energy pipeline companies from around the world and some of the key equipment manufacturers, vendors, and service providers who support the industry. The EDKT reports directly to the PRCI president and directs all knowledge transfer activities of the organization. In that role, the EDKT is responsible for establishing and deploying the elements necessary to carry out the adoption, implementation, and utilization of the results of the research program.

ABOUT SHAHANI KARIYAWASAM
Shahani is currently the Executive Director, Knowledge Transfer at Pipeline Research Council International. In this role she ensures the value of latest research and technologies are realized by the members who invest in driving the direction of the Energy Industry. She was previously the Director of Innovation & Decision Optimization at TC Energy. She was the Vice Chair of the Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI) Executive Board and represented TC Energy at industry organizations including Pipeline Safety Group, CEPA, and CSA where she led safety and innovation initiatives.Shahani is a leader who has worked on engineering projects in all inhabited continents. She has created innovative technical solutions towards sustainability in the global energy industry. The innovative risk-based solutions that she developed has optimized safety (reducing failures radically where they were applied) and reduce unnecessary costs (by 1.5 billion in last 4 years). She has published over 60 papers in conferences and journals and is the inventor of patents related to safety and risk management of pipelines.Shahani graduated from the University of Alberta with a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering with focus on risk and reliability. She is a recipient of the APEGA gold medal for Civil Engineering, Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI) outstanding contribution award, TC Energy CEO Safety awards, CEPA quality award for innovation, and the ASME global pipeline award.She is the proud mother of two sons and is an avid hiker, cross-country skier and Jazzerciser.
