ABOUT SHAF شفيع الدين CHOUDRY
Shaf has over 15 years experience as a developer, Product Manager, Project and Programme Management. His career has spanned public and private sectors, Banking, Telecoms, Fintech and Startups (including launching, crashing and burning his own).In 2017 Shaf cofounder of The Riz Test and The Seen on Screen Institute, both are big data projects founded to measure how Muslims are portrayed in the Arts. He sits on the board of directors of Open Data Manchester and is passionate about digital rights. Shaf was published in the book I Refuse to Condemn, contributing a chapter on the racial and discriminatory biases found in algorithms and AI systems. Shaf is co-editing a book focusing on how biased AI disproportionately affects Muslims to be released in late 2024 - which is also the area of research for his PhD thesis.Shaf speaks regularly on AI Ethics: Guest lectures at Liverpool John Moores University, Hyper Island and tech conferences around the globe - most recently at the London AI Summit 2024.Keynote at the Muslim Tech Festival 2023: likes to talk about himself in the third person.
