ABOUT SHAFAQUE SHAIKH
I am a Consultant Robotic/MIS General and Colorectal Surgeon with a passion for minimally invasive surgery, currently leading the General Surgery Robotics Programme at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. I am the Chair for the Grampian Robotic Training & Education committee, Research & Evaluation committee and the deputy Chair for the National RAS Clinical reference group for NHS Scotland. My subspecialty interest is in Pelvic Floor disorders and Functional Bowel conditions.Having completed an academic higher surgical training programme in the Yorkshire and Humber deanery including a NIHR Clinical Lectureship and NIHR Clinical Trials Fellowship, I pursued a colorectal and pelvic floor fellowship at St Mark\'s Hospital. I have a strong interest in academia with research interest in colorectal cancer immunology, inflammation and clinical trials in surgical interventions, applied health research in minimally invasive/robotic surgery focusing on evidence synthesis for developing and refinement of clinical care pathways.
