ABOUT SHABINA AZMI
With over 14 years’ cross-sector experience spanning pharmacy, education, policy, commissioning and system leadership, I lead transformation that connects strategy with purpose and delivers change that people can genuinely feel. Most recently, as Neighbourhood Director for South East Hillingdon, I led integrated care for a population of around residents, bringing together primary care, community and mental health services, local authority teams and VCSE partners. I now continue to apply that experience as a Neighbourhood Health Expert, supporting organisations to design and embed integrated, population-health-driven models that prioritise prevention, inclusion and compassionate leadership. My journey began in community pharmacy and has since taken me across academia, private healthcare, national programmes and system-level leadership. I’ve led work on workforce reform, medicines optimisation, supervision and neighbourhood integration, always with the same goal: to make systems work better for people and the professionals who serve them.At the heart of my leadership is a strong sense of identity and purpose. As a Muslim woman in leadership, I am deeply committed to creating space, representation and opportunity for others, particularly Muslim, BME and female leaders navigating complex systems.I lead from who I am, not from position. My approach is grounded in compassion, authenticity and faith, values that guide how I build trust, nurture relationships and shape change.I believe leadership is service and that sustainable transformation begins with shared purpose and equity.Alongside my professional work, I’ve been exploring what it means to lead with intention through my LEAP Leadership journey with Faith Inspire and reflections following Umrah. These experiences have deepened my belief that meaningful change starts with inner alignment and are shaping the next phase of my work, bringing together faith, leadership and community transformation.I actively support and mentor emerging leaders and am passionate about building spaces of belonging, trust and impact, where people, purpose and partnership thrive.
