About Sha Feng
Dr. Sha Feng is an atmospheric scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) whose research spans the Earth–energy system, with a focus on land–atmosphere interactions, high-resolution forecasting, and predictive modeling across complex environments. Her work integrates atmospheric observations and modeling to improve understanding of carbon-cycle processes and their uncertainties from urban to global scales, while also examining how extreme events—such as tropical cyclones and wildfires—affect power generation, grid resilience, and energy infrastructure. She applies this expertise to advance wind resource assessment and forecasting in diverse terrains, including offshore regions. Dr. Feng’s research is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy and NASA.She has led PNNL’s lab-wide Wildfire Community of Internal Network (COIN) since September 2024 and has contributed to multiple wildfire R&D projects, with a particular focus on wildfire–energy system interactions.
