About S. Fahad Saghir
As an ERISA attorney at Alston & Bird, my practice is primarily focused on qualified defined benefit and defined contribution plans, including single-employer, multiemployer and multiple employer plans. My work ranges from plan drafting to implementation and administration of qualified plans. I also regularly perform due diligence for ERISA plans in connection with corporate transactions. My practice includes analyzing plan failures and advising as to corrections under the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor correction programs. I also represent clients in audits by the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. I also advise clients on ERISA issues in structured finance transactions and securitizations. Due to my actuarial background, I have a unique expertise in defined benefit plans. Prior to practicing law at Alston & Bird, I worked as a retirement actuarial consultant. I am an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, a member of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, and a frequent speaker at the annual Enrolled Actuaries Meeting.
