ABOUT SEYHMUS GULER

I am passionate about health-related data and advancing medical research to improve quality of life. During my PhD, I worked on how we can more effectively stimulate the human brain non-invasively. In my postdoctoral studies, I worked on different projects on functional MRI (fMRI): developed tailored pipelines for motion correction, explored imaging biomarkers of pain, and developed protocols for real-time fMRI-neurofeedback. In my current role at Recursion, I am applying my years of research/teaching experience to improve our understanding of the complex fields of biology & chemistry and utilize this understanding in drug discovery. I feel lucky to be in the intersection of data science, engineering, and healthcare, where my contributions could impact lives in a positive way. Some of my key skills include: Python, Bash, SQL, Matlab, R scripting Neuroimaing data analysis: FSL, Nipype, Freesurfer, fMRIPrep, SPM, CONN, BIDS, ANTs, Weka, Nilearn Linux workstations, compute task automation & parallelization, CI/CD pipelines, Statistical learning and inference Machine learning for neuroimaging Neuroimaging data acquisition, EEG data collection, applying non-invasive brain stimulation, Scientific method Version control (Git, SvN, GitHub) and publication (Latex, Word, Mendeley) tools. I have a strong mathematical background, and pay attention to detail. I am a fast learner, like collaborative setting, and welcome challenging tasks. I taught several graduate and undergraduate level courses, which has boosted my clear communication skills.
