About Seth Shaifer

For the last 15 years I have had varied roles in legal services in both private practice and in-house. I have counseled clients from leading brands in the fields of intellectual property as well as mergers/acquisitions, licensing, franchising, corporate and contract law, copyrights and trademarks. Finding creative solutions to problems in a fast-paced environment has been my passion since I began working on a live, Emmy-nominated, sports talk television show. Today, I deliver rapid and practical legal and business advice for one of the most iconic brands in the world.My current work involves me as a risk-manager and negotiator of multi-million dollar, buy-side contracts for General Electric Global Operations Sourcing. Alongside this, I create simplified documents and train non-lawyers so that the company\'s risk management program is as effective as possible. Prior to my day-to-day work as an attorney, I worked in marketing, public relations, sports television and radio production. I also spend a lot of time cooking, eating, and curling, and have a passion for economics and public policy. I am a Registered Corporate Counsel in Ohio, and also a member of the New York, New Jersey and District of Columbia Bar. Global Operations is GE’s multi-functional shared services. We operate worldwide, transfer knowledge and work with every GE business to make our company simpler, better and more customer-focused.    Responsible for all aspects of a broad portfolio of global contracts including: master services agreements, BPO, MRO, facilities, software licenses, SaaS, IT hardware, RFPs and statements of work. Advise senior executives, and corporate sourcing with respect to risk management. Support business professionals that achieved 8% savings year-over-year and responsible for legal services with respect to $5.7 billion of goods and services provided to GE. Train and supervise other attorneys and employees, while providing rapid business-oriented guidance and expertise on legal and negotiation strategies. Develop templates and forms that promote simplification and speed time to contract and provide risk avoidance. Investigated compliance issues with respect to integrity issues in sourcing.• Responsible for the spinoff of three investment grade multi-billion dollar businesses.• Trained sourcing organization for risk management and negotiation strategies.• Re-negotiated business processing outsourcing agreement valued at $150 million.
