About Seth Birnbaum
Seth joined Bridgewater Associates in 2002 and is a senior member of the investment team as well as a Partner at the firm. He is Head of Fixed Income and Insurance Strategies and is responsible for developing and overseeing tailored investment strategies for fixed income investors and insurers globally. Seth has expertise in macroeconomics, portfolio engineering, and markets spanning foreign exchange, interest rates, commodities, and equities. For many years, Seth has partnered with sovereign wealth funds, central banks, pensions, endowments and foundations, insurers, and other financial institutions across the globe to develop tailored investment strategies and portfolio solutions. Seth was previously responsible for the firm’s client research team and led the development of Bridgewater’s proprietary Risk Budget Tool, which aims to flexibly model and stress-test portfolios across a range of economic and market scenarios. Seth graduated magna cum laude from Amherst College with a BA in Economics, a BA in Philosophy, and a BA in Political Science, with honors. He is a CFA charterholder and was named one of Institutional Investor’s Hedge Fund Rising Stars in 2019.
