ABOUT SERGIO MARES

With over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, I have built a career leading drilling, engineering, and production operations across a range of organizations—from startups to established operators. I currently serve as Vice President of Drilling at AlterG Resources, where I lead drilling strategy and execution, focusing on operational efficiency, innovation, and delivering consistent results in complex environments. Prior to this, I was VP of Drilling & Completions at Callon Petroleum, where I managed multidisciplinary teams of engineers and contractors to deliver safe, efficient drilling and completion programs across Permian Basin assets. Earlier, as VP of Engineering and Production at Digital Operating, I oversaw engineering, production, reservoir, and facilities functions, helping scale the organization and secure a major operator contract through the application of digital optimization technologies. I also served as Director of Drilling & Completions at EP Energy, where I led the implementation of innovative drilling and completion techniques that enhanced well performance while reducing costs. I hold a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and bring deep technical expertise across upstream operations, combined with a strong leadership focus. I am passionate about solving complex challenges, driving continuous improvement, and creating value for stakeholders. Fluent in both English and Spanish, I value diverse perspectives and thrive in collaborative, high-performance environments.
