ABOUT SERGI BRAVO
I’m a scientist investigating how molecules act on GPCRs to design better drugs using cell-based assays and computational methods. I\'m also passionate about innovation, particularly in therapeutics. Scientific expertise- Pharmacological data analysis: Kinetics of drug action; concentration-response curves- Biostatistics: Experimental design; hypothesis testing; data interpretation- Setting up cell-based assays: Functional activity; protein-protein interaction; protein quantification; intracellular messenger measurements. Other skills include- Leading small teams (3-5 people): MSc students, technical assistants, and external collaborators- Scientific communication: Oral and poster presentations at international and national conferences- Scientific writing: Published in high-impact journals (i.e. Nature and Cell) and grant writing- Mentoring and teaching: MSc students in the Drug Research program (in English) and 3rd-year Pharmacy students (in German). Innovation and collaboration- Won the Voices of Tomorrow (VoT) competition in the Ventrue Capital track – where we conducted due diligence on a life-science startup- Selected as one of 100 participants in The Excellerator, a leadership program culminating in a forum at the University of Cambridge with leaders in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries to tackle challenges and learn from their experiences- Bridging the gap between academia and industry at Nucleate a student-led, non-profit organisation- Invited to join Nova, a by-invitation-only network of driven students and professionals who support each other to accomplish their missions. Transforming scientific breakthroughs into approved therapies has been a cornerstone in my career. After obtaining my BSc in Biochemistry, I was dissatisfied with the gap between basic science and practical therapeutic interventions. Hence, I decided to pursue an MSc in Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industry to learn more about the path a drug candidate takes from being discovered to being approved for market commercialization. During this period, I moved from Spain to Germany to study GPCRs (G protein-coupled receptors), the main target of FDA-approved drugs. I’m currently based in Bonn (Germany), where I continue my research on GPCRs as a PhD candidate in Pharmacology. Feel free to connect on LinkedIn or reach out at s••••••••@gmail.com
