ABOUT SERGIO BERRUETA
I am a Digital Content Director/Multimedia Journalist for KION News Channel 46 in Salinas, covering Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz counties. Beforehand, I was at Redwood News KIEM in Eureka, reporting on what Humboldt has to offer. I was behind the scenes at North Coast News KAEF/KBVU out in Eureka as a part-time Newscast Producer. I graduated from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor’s in Journalism with a concentration on News. Before becoming a newscast producer, I was one of three co-editor-in-chiefs (lots of hyphens) of El Leñador during the Spring 2021 semester as well as part of the Layout/Design team. I was a part of the ELAC Campus News between 20••••14 and 2017, serving as an editor and writer back in Monterey Park, CA, graduating with my Associate\'s in 2019. Outside of journalism, I dipped my toes in education by working in after-school programs and being a tutor in English and Math with AmeriCorps out in East Hollywood, CA. I also participated briefly as a fellow as part of a fellowship for Lead for America between August 2021 to April 2022 working from Arcata City Hall on equity and development projects.
