Teaching Youth Law and Policy, an advanced undergraduate course for the Law, Politics, and Society Program. This course examines contemporary issues in youth law and policy, focusing on the systems that directly affect young people: delinquency, child welfare, education, and housing. Students will analyze policies designed to address the unique needs of youth across various subpopulations and explore intersecting themes such as poverty, economic justice, race, and youth voice. The course provides an in-depth understanding of how attorneys, advocacy groups, and policymakers shape litigation, legislation, and policy development. By the end of the semester, students will be equipped with knowledge and strategies for legal and policy reforms and able to critically engage with systemic challenges facing youth today.
