ABOUT SEOGJOO JANG
I am a theoretical and computational chemist and chemical/biological physicist. In addition to my PhD degree (supervisor: Greg Voth, University of Pennsylvania), I have worked at MIT as a postdoctoral researcher between and 2002, conducting research with both Jianshu Cao (until and the late Bob Silbey I then worked as a Goldhaber Distinguished Fellow at Brookhaven National Laboratory during 20••••05 (supervisor: Marshall D Newton) before joining Queens College as an assistant professor in 2005. I was then promoted to an associate professor in 2010 and to a full professor in 2012. While at Queens College, I have advanced research on the development of quantum dynamics methods and their applications to natural solar energy conversion systems. I have also conducted research on charge transport and olfaction. Aside from my own research activities, I have been organizing numerous workshops, conferences, and symposia at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, and other national and international symposia at various locations. I have also been actively involved in both local and national activities of the Korean American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA) for 10 years (20••••18). From 2018, I became more focused on administrative activities at Queens College by serving as the chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry during 20••••21. After taking sabbatical leave in Korea during 20••••23 (KAIST & KIAS), I am now fully focused on research and educational activities. My current major research area is quantum dynamics in complex environments and their applications to exciton and charge transport dynamics. I am also working on new areas of quantum information processing and machine learning. I have recently published two books and will continue revising these books and undertaking new ones. I also continue organizing workshops and conferences to facilitate advances of theretocal and computational sciences.
