ABOUT SENTHOORAN KANTHASAMY
I am a Structural Engineer and Chartered Manager (CMgr, MCMI) with experience across temporary works design and management and permanent works structural design on major infrastructure and building projects in the UK and internationally. I hold a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering and am working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng).My early career was in permanent works structural design, delivering residential and commercial buildings, mixed-use developments, and low- to high-rise structures with basements. I have designed reinforced concrete, steel, and PSPC systems, including complex multidisciplinary projects at AECOM Singapore and other international consultancies.I later specialised in temporary works, progressing into a Design Manager role within a specialist contractor environment. I led teams of engineers and CAD technicians, mentored junior engineers, and worked closely with construction teams to deliver safe, buildable, and programme-driven temporary works solutions, with a strong focus on risk ownership and constructability.In my current role at Kier, I provide temporary works engineering leadership on major infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with BS 5975 while supporting delivery teams with clear, practical engineering input. Alongside technical delivery, I bring commercial awareness, contributing to fee proposal preparation, programme planning, and early risk identification, helping project teams make informed decisions that balance safety, cost, and programme. My approach focuses on efficient design solutions, minimising abortive work and supporting predictable project outcomes.My work has been recognised at senior level, including positive feedback from Kier Managing Director Jordan Flint for my contribution to the A43 paired girder beam lifting operation involving a Paraslim system.I am known for a practical, site-focused and collaborative approach, with the ability to bridge design, construction, commercial considerations, and risk management.
