About Sem G.

Sem Ganthier is the Executive Director of Operations at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC)-Orangeburg. He joined MUSC-Orangeburg in May 2023. In this senior executive role, Ganthier is responsible for the day-to-day hospital operations. His passion for healthcare stems from volunteering with his mother, who served as a nurses aid. Her display of compassion and service to her patients led him to his early career work, as a nursing home unit clerk at a local nursing home in Brooklyn, New York. The dynamic and strategic healthcare leader has more than 15 years of combined healthcare administration and leadership experience. He served in multiple leadership capacities at Rapides Regional Medical Center, Vidant Medical Center and Montefiore Medical Center.He served as the co-chair of the National Association of Healthcare Services (NAHSE) Education Committee; editor for the NAHSE Notes newsletter and served on the board of Eastern North Carolina Healthcare Executive Group. He\'s been an adjunct faculty member and subject matter expert for Mount Olive University and Southern New Hampshire University and serves on the School of Graduate Studies faculty advisory board committee for Excelsior College. Most recently, Ganthier served as the District 4 Director for the Louisiana American College of Healthcare Executive (LACHE) board. Ganthier\'s education includes a Bachelor\'s degree in health administration from Herbert H. Lehman College, City University of New York, graduating Cum Laude, a master\'s degree in health administration from Long Island University, and a doctorate in health sciences from Nova Southeastern University. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.He enjoys reading, traveling, and working out. Ganthier has participated in multiple races including the Spartan “Sprint” race & Half-Marathons.
