About Selvon Malcolm Waldron

With over 10 years of executive-level experience in education service, social enterprise fundraising, and nonprofit leadership, Selvon has focused his skills on team development, systems creation and program implementation. He has a passion for equity in workforce development, college access, community economic building, philanthropic cultivation, and program growth. Selvon has also been a college lecturer on education and nonprofit leadership courses. In 2015, Selvon was awarded the Honorable \"Ron H Brown Distinguished Leadership Award\" and in 2016 he was the recipient of the \"Amtrak/Monumental Pioneer Award\" for community and youth activism and a \"Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition\" in recognition of outstanding and invaluable service to the community. In 2017, the DC Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs named him a finalist for for their Education Award. In 2020, Capital One named him as one of their “Community Heroes” for his commitment to college access in DC.

   Genesys Works

   May 2021 — Present

   Genesys Works provides high school students with skills training, meaningful work experiences, and connections to professional networks. Our program consists of 8 weeks of technical and professional skills training, a year-long paid corporate internship, and intensive college and career coaching/mentorship during senior year and through college completion. Since its founding in 2002, Genesys Works has grown to serve nearly students annually in Houston, Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul, the Bay Area, and the National Capital Region (NCR).> Create a bold and compelling vision and strategy for NCR while building and managing a diverse Advisory Board.> Manage, coach, and support the NCR staff with day-to-day business functions.> Develop strategic relationships with partners and decision makers at corporations to grow NCR and secure internships for NCR students.> Serve as the primary face for Genesys Works NCR to the market and advocates for students served.
