ABOUT SELVIN AHMAD EDWARDS

I am a fourth-year undergraduate at American University in Washington, D.C, studying Public Health and Sociology, with a focus on the intersection of climate change, severe weather disasters, and human behavior. Growing up in Atlanta, GA, I developed a particular interest in how severe weather, including tornadoes and urban heat, affects communities. I aspire to combine these interests to support underserved communities. I am particularly interested in community resilience, emergency preparedness, and health equity.Outside of academics, I am an aviation enthusiast with a strong interest in flight systems and operations. I am also deeply interested in environmental sustainability and urban planning. These interests shape the way I approach community health, particularly in understanding how ecological health and climate change influence risk, infrastructure, and daily life.I value learning from others and hearing about their experiences, and I am always open to connecting and exchanging ideas.
