About Selim Bilgin

Selim Bilgin is an accomplished and highly respected Si Development Leader with 30 years of experience developing Flagship Client, Server and Mobile class CPUs and SOCs at Microsoft and Intel. He is currently a Microsoft Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Microsoft\'s Compute Silicon and Manufacturing Engineering (CSME) Organization. In this position, Selim oversees the development of Microsoft\'s in-house purpose-build Cobalt SOCs and many Azure SOC components, as well as the Manufacturing functions of the majority of the Microsoft Silicon, including Cobalt and Maia.Prior to his current appointment, he served as an Intel Vice President and General Manager of Intel’s Validation Engineering (iVE) Organization leading a team of 2300 Engineers with Global footprint. In addition to forming iVE as a new organization, Selim restructured the Post-Si Validation processes at Intel for quality, efficiency and predictability, along with stronger ties to the pre-Silicon development phases. Selim brings extensive technical background in SOC, Silicon and Platform development that spans from Silicon Architecture & Design (Front and Back-End) to SOC Integration, Product Validation and Manufacturing.During his tenure at Intel, Selim has led the development of multiple game-changing products and technologies which played a pivotal role in maintaining Intel’s Leadership in Processor Design. Some of this key achievements include: • Leading the team that developed Intel’s first Uncore, incorporating new technologies, such as Inter-Core-Communication fabric, Memory Controller, DDR, PCIe and QPI, for the first time on an Intel CPU. He also established new development models, tools, flow and methodologies around this new concept, and skilled the team on these items. • Leading the development of a new breed of highly integrated and Power-Efficient SOCs which powered the Ultrabook and 2-in-1 revolution in the industry. • Introducing a Silicon development methodology to scale across a portfolio of products with active risk management across the IP suppliers.Selim holds 9 patents in the areas of Chip-To-Chip Interconnect Protocols and other Uncore Technologies.
